  • 06/11/05 - This is a review of last nights show in Salem, Oregon: IDX1274 was lurking around the whole show incognito, with a camoflauge cloth across his face. Just before he began he donned a fencing mask with a skull painted on it, which he announced used to be worn by the drummer of Funkadelic. The set began with some ritualistic (?) smashing of glass-framed pictures of nuns and maybe Mary or Jesus or something. There was a strobe light and a tv set playing an alfred hitchcock movie. I believe there were contact mics on the tv, a casette 4 track was involved somehow, possibly recording (?), some pedals, various power tools, and a metal grinder. He stuck well-worn license plates into the grinder, and eventually a mic got stuck up in there as well, causing sparks to fly and loud noises resulted. There was an acrid, burning smell after while. He took a thick piece of steel pipe or something and duct-taped a mic inside of it. This he threw into the tube of the tv set. Kaboom! Then in a rage he grabbed a heavy axe and started chopping the tv set to bits. The crowd moved back a bit, but it was a small space so there was really nowhere to go. Then he laid into it with a chainsaw, and cut it until the chain broke. There was some nice pedal work in there, and finally a metal grinder coda. The last sound heard was the grinder ever so gradually slowing down to a dead stop, and that was the end. There was debris and glass and metal things strewn all over.. it looked like a bomb had gone off in there. The door opened to get some fresh air, and Ben-David's dad walked in to survey the damage. Nkondi told him, "It's probably just as well you weren't here for this one...."

  • 05/02/03 - IDX1274 will be working with Rompida Records out of Merced, California as web master to get this newer label up and running online and ready to reach a broader audience than by emailing potential customers which is how they have been moving their impressive catalog so far. The label is home to noise and experimental artists: Jimmy McCullough (also its founder and CEO), Tapes Vs. Ten, 731, Teruo Fujimoto & WTFP so far and at this time has a catalog of 13 releases and a CD Sampler that collects the first 12 CD releases, 1 track each per release. About every 15 releases Rompida will release a Sampler which is sold at a lower cost to the end user for experimentation. All already cheap prices include postage in USA and Canada & discounts can be obtained by buying multiple releases or bulk lots. After the web site is up and running for Rompida Records a new batch of releases will begin and will include the long awaited release of new noise artist - Anatomy of a Scene (he's been selling CD's starting at a penny on Ebay every time he posts them!!) & IDX1274 as well!! Please take a minute to check out the interim site we have running and please drop them a line to see about checking out some of their artists today.

  • 05/01/03 - IDX1274 receives a package from long lost friend, artist & label head of GREL RECORDS, of one of the most original small labels IDX1274 has found to date, containing several past releases each with deluxe art packaging and released in limited editions!! All the items were a pleasure to the ear and cover genres from hard core noise to minimalism and all points in between. The best part of receiving the package though is that I can now be back in touch with a brother with whom I had been working on a Vs. project. The tracks were basically all but done when we lost contact. IDX1274 was doing some final nit picky editing. IDX1274 hopes that with GREL RECORDS help the IDX1274 vs snma project will see the light of day, perhaps in a deluxe multi cassette edition or a CD-R / Tape combo or something.... And of course in a special deluxe package the likes of which has been mentioned (one release IDX1274 got came sewn into a piece of an uncle's shirt. A hem ripper was needed to get in.)

  • 04/25-26-27/03- IDX1274 hits the studio for a session of remixes using the 4 CD set of short wave radio transmissions of "numbers" stations called "The Conet Project" as source material. IDX1274 is using this time to also develop a set of live material for some possible small art gigs in the future. The session spawned several nice tracks all recorded live in the studio and may be released on IDX1274's own 13 Miles Out Records.

  • 04/19/03- I have finished work on two new longer tracks, both of which are drastically different from one another. The first new track is entitled "For Morton Feldman (A Christian Wolff Remix)" and uses all the Christian Wolff material combined and remixed into a Magnum Opus that captures the beauty and solitude that the original pieces instilled while taking the listener to a totally different dream world that Morton never envisioned for the listener. The second new piece, just finished today, is a super hard-core noisefest entitled "Robot Orgy Clusterfuck". The piece is 34 minutes and explores the adventures of a shy, self conscious robot who is introduced into the world of orgies, group sex and swinging. Follow our hero as he first watches and later joins in the carnal action of the "Robot Orgy Clusterfuck". Both of these pieces will be available in my files shares online as of today.

  • 04/15/03 - Due to volume of loose tracks not on any CD projects or concepts I have added today a "Songography" page  which tracks each and every piece giving proper time and titles as well as on what releases it can be found or where it was/is available for download. This way files can be checked for completeness and proper tagging by end listeners. Also provided is the month and year in which each piece was recorded so a sense of time frame can be achieved. Perhaps in the future a page listing the sound sources for each track would be a nice addition to the site......?

These brothers are fantastic and if you haven't heard about them, check them out. They represent the future of ritualistic soundscaping and multi-media arts as we know it!!
